Madeline Miller is an American novelist and New York Times Bestselling author of books, The Song of Achilles and Circe. We are thrilled to welcome her to Charleston to Charleston 2018!
Before the release of her first work of fiction, Miller grew up in New York City and Philadelphia and attended Brown University where she earned her BA and MA in Classics. Putting her advanced skills in language to good use, Miller taught and tutored high school students Latin, Greek and Shakespeare, and has done so for the past 20 years.
Continuing her education, Miller studied at the University of Chicago’s Committee on Social Thought and at Yale School of Drama where she concentrated on the adaption of classical texts to modern form.
Her first novel, The Song of Achilles, was awarded the 2012 Orange Prize for Fiction. Following this success, Miller released Circe. This epic story of family rivalry, love and loss, and female strength in a man’s world is “every bit as luminous and compelling as its predecessor.” (The Guardian)
Miller will be speaking on her most recent work, Circe, at C2C on November 9th at 4 p.m.! Get your tickets now to hear her share the story of the indomitable strength and divine power of this super-heroine.
