We at the Charleston to Charleston Literary Festival are so excited to share our 2018 speakers with you!
Margo Jefferson is a Pulitzer Prize winning theater critic; a journalist; a feminist. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Guardian, and Vogue, to name a few.
An active figure in the Civil and Women's Rights scenes of the 1960s and 1970s, she has never been afraid to use her voice, as shown in this video from a day long past.
Her memoir, Negroland, released in 2015 to critical acclaim and numerous awards. A passionate musing on her upbringing in the upper echelon of black Chicago society of the 1950s is called "powerful and complicated," as well as "utterly compelling."
She is also the author of On Michael Jackson, which Publisher's Weekly called "a slim, smart volume of cultural analysis." In May of 2018 she weighed in on the marriage of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with this piece in The Guardian.
We're so thrilled Ms. Jefferson will be a part of our 2018 festival; we hope you'll come out to learn more about her and the life she's lead when she discusses Negroland at The Charleston to Charleston Literary Festival!
